Romantic — Emotion, colour, and expanded technique

The Romantic period pushed piano technique and expressiveness to new extremes. It is the era of the virtuoso, the nocturne, the character piece, and the song without words. For students it opens a vast and emotionally rewarding repertoire — but demands a singing tone, flexible rhythm, and careful pedalling.
